About Canadian Migraine

Canadian life shouldn’t feel like a full‑time admin job.

I started Canadian Migraine to share relatable, humorous takes on all the little (and not‑so‑little) frustrations of living in Canada — from ICBC claims and transit headaches to surprise bank fees and confusing government paperwork.

My goal is simple:
Help you feel less alone, more informed, and actually able to do something about this stuff.

What You’ll Find Here

ICBC & Transport
I break down the messy bits of driving, insurance, and getting around — in plain language, with real‑world examples and steps you can actually follow.

Banking & Money
Mystery fees, fine print, and loyalty points that never seem worth it. I translate bank‑speak into normal‑person English and share ways to keep more of your own money.

Lifestyle & Services
Rent, utilities, internet, phone plans, healthcare admin — all the ongoing “life maintenance” that quietly eats your time and energy. I share scripts, checklists, and shortcuts to make it less painful.

Weekly Rants
Sometimes you just need a good rant. These posts say what you’re probably already thinking — with at least one or two concrete actions so it’s not just shouting into the void.

Who I Am

I’m a regular office worker in BC / recovering insurance insider / personal finance nerd] who got tired of watching friends and family get burned by confusing systems and bad information.

Over the years, I’ve:
– Dealt with my own ICBC and insurance messes
– Fought with banks over fees and nonsense policies
– Spent way too much time figuring out “how this actually works”

This site is where I put those hard‑won lessons — with a bit of humor to keep it bearable.

A tidy, modest Canadian kitchen table made of light oak, its surface scattered with neatly arranged but overwhelming paperwork: detailed insurance forms, banking statements with tiny printed fees, and tax slips all bearing subtle maple leaf motifs. A single, half-melted vanilla-scented candle sits in the middle beside an overstuffed manila folder labeled “Important Stuff” in bold marker. Cold blue morning light filters through a frosted window, casting soft, diagonal shadows and highlighting the paper clutter. Shot from a slightly elevated angle in photographic realism with moderate depth of field, the table is sharp while the fridge and cabinets blur. The mood is playfully exasperated yet relatable, combining warm wood tones with cool light to reflect the mental tug-of-war of managing Canadian life admin.
